Empower your employees as a Certified Wellness Motivational Interviewing

Motivational InterviewingMotivating people to change behavior that is harmful to their health can be difficult and tiresome. Changing the style of consultation could improve this experience for health and wellness professionals and create sustained behavior change for the client! This style is called Motivational Interviewing: a client-centered, directive counseling style for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. In this two day certification course, participants will gain motivation enhancing behavior change approaches, real-life demonstrations, videotape examples, “real-plays”, case studies, small group discussions, and participate in experiential and skills based exercises.

 

 

 

 

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completion of this course, candidates should be able to:

  1. develop understanding of the spirit, principles and practice of Motivational Interviewing
  2. Increased proficiency in client-centered counselling skills
  3. Greater understanding of key principles such as control & choice; change talk; rolling with resistance etc.
  4. Set in motion the patient’s natural change potential!
PROGRAM

16 Hours of continues education is planned into 2 days to save the busy professionals one day out of office. Training will start at 08:00 and finish at 17:00 each day.

WHO SHOULD ENROL?

Health Professionals, Employee Assistances Practitioners, Call centre employees and other related client services representatives who need to conduct an interview or counselling session.

PRESENTERS

The course will be presented by Dr Japie Lubbe and Mrs Tertia Putter. Both of them are recognised by the national and international wellness community as leaders in the field of worksite Wellness. Both trainers are part of the International Network of Motivational Interviewing Trainers (MINT).

COURSE STRUCTURE

The format will predominantly consist of lectures with regular workshop opportunities, personal assignments and group discussions. The course will be presented in English.

ACCREDITATION

This programme and certification is provided by Wellness Africa (Pty)Ltd.  Skills Development levy paid, is claimable at the relevant SETA. Attendees may apply for CPD points from the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) and other relevant statutory bodies,   on successful completion of the course.

ASSESSMENT

In order to receive a certification from Wellness Africa (Pty)Ltd, delegates need to successfully complete and comply with requirements through a assignment after the training course.
