The Wellness Culture Survey assesses the impact of workplace culture upon wellness attitudes and behaviour. The Wellness Culture Survey offers insight into which wellness behaviours are likely to take place in the current workplace environment. And, perhaps more importantly, the Wellness Culture Survey is a valuable tool in planning the systematic change of those aspects of the culture which fail to support – or even interfere with – efforts to adopt wellness lifestyles changes.
Research is indicating that the best way to reduce unsuccessful behaviour change attempts is through establishing a supportive cultural environment. Creating corporate culture that truly supports wellness is a long-term project that requires real dedication to wellness values and a lot of sustained hard work and coordination.

In a supportive cultural environment, employees feel that the organization they work for provides them with encouragement, opportunity, and rewards for healthy lifestyles. And the spirit that results is highly contagious. Employees who feel cared for are naturally more loyal and productive.
Advantages and Features
To provide a framework for the assessment and evaluation of the current organizational wellness culture, your organization needs to develop a picture of its desired future. What state of wellness does the organization want to create for the future? This is best done through a wellness culture survey. Through a decade of research and trailing best practices (that has led to a Ph.D. , several publications and conference presentations), Wellness Africa has developed a Wellness Culture Survey based on the work of Robert Allen and his son Judd Allen, that could be implemented by African-based organizations to measure their organisational wellness culture.
The five cultural factors examined through this survey are Wellness Values, Norms, Organisational Support, Peer Support and Work Climate. They all work together to shape long-term behaviour change. Assessing the impact of these cultural dimensions is the first step in empowering members of your workforce to choose wellness lifestyles and workstyles.
There are some great futures that make the Wellness Culture Survey a must do before embarking on corporate change planing.
